Boalous are Clementine Fuchs (violin, composition), Kurt Leodolter (accordeon, voice) and Ludwig Zeier (double bass).
Together they search in their music for the presence of times past, the Austrian in the South East European and for spontaneity in improvisation. Their compositions cross the borders of serious and popular music, their concerts both joyful- at times even hilarious – and profound . They concentrate on unplugged music and close listening; also dealing with digital music, freeing it of its digital constraints.
Boalous is a word in Styrian dialect and has the meaning of “wow, great!”. “Lousen” is still used in the sense of “listening” in the southern parts of Germany, Austria and Switzerland (middle high german “losen” and old high german “hlosen”).
